The PRASE methodology

The principals and members of CLP have a proven record of accomplishing value creation through the PRASE methodology. PRASE is an acronym that stands for:

  • Problem definition (description of current state and why it is insufficient)
  • Root cause identification (deep understanding of the cause of the problem or constraint to achieving the goal)
  • Analysis of desired future state (what it will look like when problem is fixed or constraint lifted)
  • Steps needed to develop specific prescriptions and priorities to get from “here” to “there” (people, process, technology and governance)
  • Engage in an action plan based on priorities, organization, delegation, and follow up to achieve goal state (including role of CLP if applicable)

This methodology is applicable in any situation where value creation is inhibited. For example, perhaps customers are happy and revenues are growing at a healthy pace. However, the return to shareholders is below what other investments with similar risk characteristics are yielding. On the other hand, current profits may be adequate but customers are rapidly defecting to the competition. CLP has successfully steered through countless iterations of the tug of war between simultaneous top and bottom line growth.
